My concept of "Superposition"

 2019, I began experimenting with the concept of superposition, borrowing the term from physics and translating its principle of coexisting possible states into a visual language for human psychology.

I used superposition as a metaphor for the multiple psychological states that can exist within a person, particularly the tension between what is presented outwardly and what remains concealed. This was influenced by Carl Jung's concepts of the persona and shadow.

To visualise this idea, I painted over transparent plastic sheets, cut them into individual forms, and layered them over an acrylic base. The transparency allowed different positions, gestures and expressions to occupy the same figure visually, suggesting several possible states existing simultaneously rather than one fixed identity.

This experiment became an important foundation for my later Echo Form series in 2024, in which overlapping figures and repeated outlines developed into a visual method for exploring the uncertainty and multiplicity of human behaviour and psychological states.
